Alliance City Council voted unanimously on Feb. 2, 2026, to adopt Ordinance 017-26, authorizing the Director of Public Safety and Service to advertise for bids and enter contracts for upgrades and replacement of traffic signals along US‑62/East State Street at South Arch Avenue, South Seneca Avenue and South Mahoning Avenue at a cost not to exceed $750,000. The council also waived referral to Finance before voting.
The ordinance is intended to address signal reliability and timing; resident comments during public comment urged repairs and earlier flashing at certain intersections. Councilmember Bugara and others characterized the project as an important traffic-safety and operational improvement. The ordinance passed by unanimous roll call; the minutes do not include a construction schedule or funding breakdown beyond the not‑to‑exceed amount.
Next steps are competitive bidding and contract awards administered by the Director of Public Safety and Service, after which the project schedule and funding sources should be publicly posted.
