Chamblee proposes phased sanitation fee increases to reduce general fund subsidy

Kryskis told the council the sanitation fund has operated at a deficit and is subsidized by the general fund. To reduce that pressure, staff proposed a $70-per-year increase beginning in 2026.
"So I think I have it here. That would be $355 annually for next year for customers, and then it would go up to 495 by 2028," Kryskis said. She added that a portion of commercial sanitation activity will see an increase as well to add funds to the enterprise account. The council did not take formal action on the fee at this hearing; the increase was presented as part of the budget proposal.
