A grandparent (S7) who said she holds legal guardianship of a student at Bessie Coleman Middle School told the board that an incident in February led to her granddaughter’s suspension and that subsequent requests for follow-up were not answered promptly.
S7 described repeated unsuccessful attempts to reach school staff and said she was not offered a remote meeting option during STAR testing; she told the board, “After repeated emails, phone calls, I didn't get any return phone calls maybe once and, maybe 1 email return.” The commenter asked that school staff meet with her and her daughter, and requested clarification of district policy on parents visiting or observing classrooms. Board staff (S2) responded that a staff member would contact her to follow up.
