DDA approves $224,605.54 change order for environmental work after extra underground tank found

The Downtown Development Authority approved a change order for environmental work at the Pierce properties after crews discovered an additional underground storage tank that extended the remediation scope.
Jonathan (staff) told the board the change order increases the revised total to no more than $224,605.54, roughly $64,000 greater than the previously approved amount, to cover additional excavation, testing and soil removal. Jonathan said the final report is being prepared for submission to the Georgia Department of Environmental Quality requesting a finding of no further action.
A board member moved to approve the Geo Hydro Engineers Inc. purchase order for proposal #252229 for the revised amount; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously. Board discussion noted the increase was largely due to equipment mobilization time and extra testing once the additional tank was found, and the chair said the bank financing the DDA's purchase is eager to see the final EPD report before closing.
