The Chamblee City Council unanimously adopted a resolution temporarily suspending the issuance of initial on‑premises alcoholic beverage licenses to allow city legal staff and planners to review the municipal alcohol code. A staff presenter summarized the change as limited to initial applications and not applicable to renewals or existing licenses.
"We are recommending that the council suspend, temporarily the issuance of initial licenses to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises, to allow the council city council, legal, city staff to review the code, the alcohol code, and make any necessary changes," the staff member said during the discussion. The council voted in favor without further comment.
