Students, teams and scholarship winners recognized at board meeting

The board recognized a Delta Kappa Gamma scholarship recipient, a Green Power team that placed 14th nationally, several state track champions, and named Aiden Lloyd the Martha Vandervoort scholar from Pleasant Valley High School.
The board set aside time to recognize students and community groups. Ada Badgett and Sandra Suddath of Delta Kappa Gamma presented a scholarship to Vanessa Cook, who will use funds for instructional materials as noted in her application.
Cynthia Garcia, leader of the Green Power team at Weaver Elementary, described the students’ project and their performance at Talladega: "Out of a 100 and teams, the team did place 14th in the nation," she said. The board also recognized state track champions Carson Holly, Ali Anderson and Ella Perez; Mr. Willis noted Perez broke a 26‑year state record.
Lauren Young presented Aiden Lloyd as the RMC Foundation 2026 Martha Vandervoort Memorial Scholar; Mr. Lloyd was selected from 163 applicants and will serve as an ambassador for community service projects. Board members applauded the recipients and staff for supporting student achievement.
