Stronach Township board approves additional 1.6805‑mill proposal for fire and emergency services

The Stronach Township Board voted July 22 to adopt Resolution 7‑22‑2026‑2, which would place an additional 1.6805 mills on the November 2026 ballot. The five‑year levy (2027–2031) is described in the resolution as intended to fund fire protection, emergency medical services, rescue operations, firefighting equipment and apparatus, station improvements, staffing, training and other public safety purposes authorized by law.
The resolution text asks: “Shall the constitutional limitation on the amount of taxes which may be assessed … be increased by and the Stronach Township Board be authorized to levy annually an additional millage of up 1.6805 mills ($1.68 per $1,000 of taxable value) for a period of five (5) years, 2027 through 2031, inclusive…?” The township estimate included in the resolution projects approximately $105,909 in revenue in the first year the millage is levied.
The motion to accept the proposal was made by Mr. Lindeman and seconded by Ms. Zoscsak. Clerk Lori Gerber recorded the roll call votes as Zoscsak—yes, Gerber—yes, Vadeboncoeur—yes, Lindeman—yes; Mr. Skiera was absent. Supervisor Vadeboncoeur declared the resolution adopted and the proposal will be placed on the November 2026 ballot.
There was no public comment on the proposal at the special meeting. If voters approve the levy in November, the funds would be available to the township for the public safety purposes listed in the resolution.
