Stronach Township board renews 1.5‑mill fire protection levy for 2027–2031

Supervisor Vadeboncoeur and the Stronach Township Board voted unanimously July 22 to adopt Resolution 7‑22‑2026‑1, renewing the expired one‑and‑one‑half (1.5) mill override under Article IX, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution for five years, 2027 through 2031, to support fire department protection, maintenance, equipment and education.
The resolution text states, “IT IS HEREBY unanimously agreed that the Stronach Township Board adopt a resolution to be placed on the November Ballot … to be renewed at the original voted one and one‑half (1.5) mill ($1.50 per $1,000.00 of taxable value), and levied for five years (5) years, 2027 through 2031 inclusive, for the purpose of Fire Department protection, maintenance equipment and education.” The township estimated the levy would generate $94,534 in the first year it is levied.
The motion to accept the proposal was made by Mr. Lindeman and seconded by Ms. Zoscsak. Clerk Lori Gerber recorded the roll call votes: Zoscsak—yes, Gerber—yes, Vadeboncoeur—yes, Lindeman—yes; Mr. Skiera was recorded as absent. Supervisor Vadeboncoeur declared the resolution adopted and the proposal will be placed on the November 2026 ballot.
There was no public comment recorded on the item. The measure is a renewal of an existing voted millage override; if approved by voters in November, the levy would fund local fire services and related training and equipment through 2031.
