District outlines security coverage: SROs at middle/high schools, campus security at elementaries

"Beginning at the high school, we will at least have 2 SROs, school resource officers at every high school. At every middle school, we will have at least 1 school resource officer," Chief Walker said. He added elementary campuses will have a combination of district safety staff, third‑party campus security and daily SRO check‑ins where appropriate. The department said it is working to staff positions that are in background or clearance processing and that pilot programs are being tested to identify vaping locations and other student-safety trends.
Board members asked for follow-up reports on strategic use of detection devices and vaping pilot outcomes; the chief indicated he would coordinate report metrics with the operations team.
