Board approves suite of principal and director appointments

The Clayton County Board of Education unanimously approved a slate of personnel recommendations presented by the interim superintendent during the July meeting.
Interim Superintendent Dr. Hendricks presented candidates for school and district leadership, and the board moved to accept the recommendations. "I'd like to bring to you some recommendations," the superintendent said when introducing the slate. Board members moved and seconded each recommendation; the chair called the votes and each passed unanimously. Appointments announced included Dr. Sequina Scott as assistant principal at Jonesboro High School and Dr. Nicole Jones as assistant principal at Morrow Middle School. Other approved roles included executive director of elementary (Dr. Vanessa Muhammad), director of career, technical and agricultural education (Dr. Beverly Holyfield), coordinator of health and physical education (Dorwin Lyles), coordinator of specialized instruction (Dr. Natalie Myricks) and Major Curtis Williams as deputy chief of safety and security.
The board paused to recognize appointees and asked personnel to remain for a photograph. The motions were moved and seconded from the dais and recorded as approved with unanimous tallies. The board did not attach additional conditions to the approvals, and the superintendent indicated follow-up steps for photo recognition and onboarding.
