Staff explained several technical edits to the village's recently adopted 2024 building code. Director Jennings said the amendments clarify the trigger for requiring a second stretcher‑sized elevator (based on total egress distance), insert references to the Illinois Smoke Detector Act in residential and property‑maintenance sections, and define special architectural provisions and a clearer waiver process for materials such as cement fiberboard and architectural metal panels.
The board approved the related ordinances by roll call. Trustees and staff said the changes were largely minor clarifications discovered after implementation of the 2024 code and intended to streamline review and waiver decisions going forward.
