The Board of Public Works approved multiple parks purchases and capital projects on July 30, including turf equipment and two playground structures.
Commissioner Speedy moved to approve purchase of a 2026 Groundmaster mower from Turf Products (Sourcewell contract #18696) for $173,091.95, funded through Department 177 (parks fund trust activity). Staff noted a trade-in allowance of $9,600. Director staff described the mower as a frontline machine replacing an older unit on the equipment-replacement schedule.
The board also approved a 2026 ABI Force Z23 HLT laser-ready infield groomer for $59,826.61 (Department 177). Staff said the groomer will help maintain 32 baseball and softball fields, reduce ponding with its laser grader attachment and speed field edging.
Separately, the board approved purchase of a new playground structure for Los Amigos Park ($145,000, Sourcewell #010521) and a playground for Jeff Moore Park ($153,483, Sourcewell #010521) with funding coming from Department 177 capital activity and, in part for Jeff Moore, streets and donor contributions. Staff said installations are expected this fall pending finance approvals.
Why it matters: The purchases are part of planned park maintenance and capital upgrades intended to improve recreational facilities and neighborhood parks. The board recorded the motions and approved each item by voice vote; no roll-call tallies were provided in the transcript.
