The Board of Public Works voted to create an unaffiliated assistant superintendent position in the wastewater department and approved routine user warrants on July 30.
The newly authorized position is designated as grade 20 and will be funded through the wastewater fund (Department 169), the board was told. Staff explained the change is intended to address overlapping responsibilities between foreman positions and the operations supervisor; the operations supervisor role will not be eliminated but may not be funded if the new position is filled. The presenter said the position's salary can be covered within the existing wastewater operating budget, though the new title will be placed on a different pay grid.
Board members asked about budget impact and were told the effect should be minimal and will be managed within existing funds. The motion passed by voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded in the transcript.
