Council highlights community events: 'Batter Up Baker' and 'Mental Health and Mingle'

Council members used their district reports to highlight several upcoming community events. Council member Dunne described 'Batter Up Baker' on Aug. 15 at Chamberlain Street Park with food, a health fair and assistance with voter registration and IDs for young people.
A different council member said District 3 will host a 'Mental Health and Mingle' workshop on Aug. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Jefferson Street park under a large tent; the event will include dinner and is open to adults and children. "It's gonna be called mental health and mingle... There will be free dinner for everybody who comes on out," the council member said.
Officials encouraged residents to register where indicated and to attend both events. The council noted the fire department will participate in the community event to distribute smoke detectors and other safety items.
