Calumet County Land Information Council hears GIS go‑live, AI‑policy draft and parcel fabric maintenance update

Andy Hess, Calumet County GIS Administrator, briefed the Land Information Council on Dec. 4 about a suite of technical upgrades and operational changes intended to expand GIS services across county departments and municipalities.
Hess reported that the county’s ArcGIS Enterprise software was updated from version 10.9.1 to 11.3 to support expanded license functionality and remote editing, and that the GIS environment is “ready to go‑live” for broader departmental use. He said the office has increased drone data collection and is deploying Drone2Map Advanced tools and 3D modeling projects for parks, highway stockpile calculations, and municipal needs.
Hess also described an internal draft of a county AI use policy that has been written but not yet approved; the office indicated partial AI integration is already in place for some workflows. The parcel fabric initiative, he said, is now in a maintenance phase with parcel data propagating to the public nightly. The office plans continued training, outreach through professional groups (WLIA, EWUG, LION) and at least one staff member to attend the ESRI User Conference next year.
