Board adopts two-year calendars, adds Jan. 23 'data dialogue' half-day for 2025–26

The board voted to adopt the 2025–26 and 2026–27 district calendars as recommended administratively. The superintendent said the calendars preserve the required mix of student days and instructional hours — “you have to have a certain number of student days and student hours,” the superintendent explained — and that the district retained 180 student days and 1,098 hours while embedding 4 conference-related half-days and one flex professional-development day.

A notable change for 2025–26 is a Jan. 23 half-day timed to the high‑school exam week; the superintendent said teachers requested the change and the district will use the afternoon for a "data dialogue" focused on exam and reading/math results to plan for the second semester. Board members asked about how calendar alignment affects special-education students who travel between districts and whether adjusting minutes per day could shift the June release date; the superintendent said varying start dates and the need to meet both hours and days make those trade-offs difficult.

After discussion, the board adopted the calendars by voice vote. Staff highlighted that the calendars mirror each other except for start-date shifts caused by Labor Day timing in each year and that the district will publish calendars and continue coordinating with regional partners for aligned breaks.
