Council reviewed and approved an interlocal agreement with the Stafford Municipal School District (SMSD) to provide law-enforcement services on campus, including a provision that SMSD fund SRO-specific training. Staff said the district acted on the agreement and returned a version incorporating council-requested revisions, and the city’s legal counsel coordinated further edits with the district attorney prior to council consideration.
A staff presenter explained that when training is specific to SRO duties, SMSD pays those costs; for overlapping officer training the city covers expenses. The agreement includes standard notice provisions for termination; staff confirmed the contract remains effective until a party provides the required notice. Council moved, seconded and passed the interlocal agreement on a voice vote.
