City selects automated pavement‑condition service to inform street programming

The committee reviewed a recommendation to contract automated pavement-condition assessment services — a vehicle-mounted survey that measures pavement condition index, curb condition, and international roughness index across city streets. Staff said three firms responded to the RFQ and a selection committee recommended Roadway Asset Services. The first-year scan will cover the entire street network and staff intends to assess half the system annually thereafter.
"This information is utilized to determine street maintenance and repair programming as well as identify streets for reconstruction," the project lead said, noting the city has used automated assessments since 2016 and that the new agreement will provide more precise, consistent condition data than previous manual sampling. The committee voted unanimously to recommend council approval of an agreement not to exceed $697,164.
