The council heard staffing and operations updates from the director of public service and safety. Director Foxhoven announced open applications for police officer positions through Aug. 21 and accepted applications for the network administrator post currently held by Kim Myers. He also said the mayor scheduled a ribbon-cutting for the treatment plant on Sept. 2 at 11 a.m.
“We are accepting applications for police officer through August 21,” Director Foxhoven said. He added that applications for the network administrator position will be accepted until the vacancy is filled. The director requested that water operations staff describe recent taste-and-odor concerns reported by residents.
Water operations staff explained that changes made after a new plant commissioned in 2020 altered ammonia levels coming from one well field; staff described adjustments intended to give better control over treatment processes. A staff member said the changes are intended to improve operational control and that council members or residents who had not noticed differences likely would not see immediate changes at their homes.
Staff invited questions from council and the public and emphasized they could provide more technical detail if requested. The director also confirmed the upcoming treatment-plant ribbon-cutting and asked council to coordinate on event details.
