Demolition hearing held for 7247–49 Indianapolis Blvd; owners say repairs near completion, status set for May 14

The board opened a demolition hearing for property 7247–49 Indianapolis Boulevard, noting a prior demolition order recorded April 12, 2024. Inspections staff said the property remained vacant and that new owners (L2 Equities) had not completed inspections after permits were pulled; staff filed a new order under the Unsafe Building Act and requested an update from the owners.

Scott Boorstein, counsel for L2 Equities, and Joe Jankowski of the ownership team told the board they acquired the property in late summer, have completed interior clearing, asbestos abatement and epoxy flooring, and are finishing tuck pointing and exterior paint. Boorstein disputed some citation items ("There's no stucco on the building"), and Jankowski said NIPSCO service remains outstanding and could take four to six weeks; he estimated landlord work could be completed "safely within 6 weeks."
