Planning staff reported ongoing research into the locations and occupancy rates of existing car wash and self‑storage facilities across Avon. The purpose is to determine whether there is an overabundance in particular areas and what zoning or occupancy restrictions might be appropriate.
Pam Fechter told commissioners the City Council extended Ordinance 119‑25, the temporary moratorium on acceptance and processing of new applications for car washes and self‑storage facilities, until June 23, 2026, to allow staff time to complete the analysis and prepare recommendations. Staff encouraged commission feedback while compiling the data and suggested regulatory measures to avoid overconcentration of such facilities.
