Superintendent outlines draft advisory committees; vote to finalize expected in February

Superintendent Michael McFarland presented draft board advisory committees and explained their advisory role, membership limits and the timeline to return the committee structure for formal board approval.
McFarland described the policy review committee (as-needed), the finance/capital facilities advisory (CFA) committee to support the budget cycle, a mental health committee to focus on student and staff supports, a superintendent evaluation committee and a parent engagement committee. "These are advisory committees," he said, noting staff members will participate and that the full board will receive any final recommendations.
Trustees were asked to check schedules and notify staff of committee preferences; McFarland said the drafts will be returned to the board for a vote at the next meeting, and that committees typically will include no more than three trustees to stay within open-meetings rules for advisory groups.
