Staff described a conditional use permit request at 15026 Upper 63rd Street North for a new accessory building (28 by 35 feet; about 980 square feet) and a front deck within the required setback. The property has two frontages (Upper 63rd Street North and Panama Avenue) and the 30-foot setback applies to both.
Scott Richards told council the planning commission reviewed the application at its July 9 meeting and recommended approval unanimously. "Not a lot of questions from the planning commission; it seemed pretty straightforward," Scott Richards said. A council member said they had driven by and complimented the applicants’ work on the house. A motion to adopt the resolution granting the conditional use permit passed by roll call with affirmative votes from council members and Mayor Doherty.
The approval is consistent with recent, similar setback exceptions in the older neighborhood; staff will issue permits consistent with the planning commission conditions and the resolution.
