Steubenville council sets Dec. 11 and Dec. 18 special meetings to interview City Manager finalists

Mr. Walker made the motion to call the Dec. 11 meeting to conduct interviews and it carried on a unanimous roll call; he subsequently moved to call the Dec. 18 meeting and that motion also passed unanimously. Law Director Costa Mastros reminded council members that written notices must be delivered 24 hours in advance when calling a special meeting by motion of the council and that discussion is limited to the stated purpose. Council agreed candidates must appear in person—"Tell them they have to be here in person one of those two days," Mr. Walker said—and the council reaffirmed it would not use Zoom for those sessions.
The council also discussed logistics: notices will be provided to the five applicants and the interviews will be conducted in person; no final appointment was made during this meeting.
