Board adopts Michigan Earned Sick Time Act policy as recommended
Summary
Trustees approved an administratively‑recommended policy to implement the Michigan Earned Sick Time Act; staff noted many employees are covered by collective bargaining and most already meet or exceed the accrual ratios, and the policy was presented as flexible pending any state changes.

The Boyne City Public Schools Board approved a district policy implementing the Michigan Earned Sick Time Act as presented by administrators. The superintendent explained the policy would not dramatically change conditions for most employees because many are covered by collective‑bargaining agreements and already exceed the accrual ratios; the policy expands allowable reasons for using sick time and was drafted to be flexible should state law change before Feb. 21.
Trustees moved and approved the policy by voice vote (motion moved and supported in the meeting record). Board members thanked staff for the work on the policy and noted the district will monitor state changes and bargaining implications during implementation.
