Cedar Hill ISD reports 81% pass rate on industry-based certifications; adds drone, security and aide credentials

Tyesha Smith, innovation coordinator, reported the district had tested 439 students for industry-based certifications (IBCs) this year with an overall pass rate of 81 percent (355 passes). She said the district added new credentials this year, including drone (Part 107), noncommissioned security officer, and educational aide certifications, and acknowledged the drone area needs growth.
Smith described steps to raise passing rates including district-wide IBC benchmark assessments, CTE data PLCs, targeted boot camps and ongoing teacher professional development. She said district staff met with Dallas ISD and the National Healthcare Association to adopt practices that increased pharmacy-tech pass rates elsewhere, and that the district maintains portals for students to review results and retest when allowed by vendor rules.
