Cedar Hill ISD to pilot blended-learning tools IXL and Amira under LASSO grant

Dr. Montgomery presented the district's blended-learning plan and said the work is tied to Texas Education Agency expectations and supported by a LASSO grant. "From that, we've selected IXL and we've selected Amira," she told trustees, describing IXL as a broad K–12 practice platform and Amira as an "AI tool that listens to scholars read" for early-grade fluency.
Montgomery said IXL will support K–5 math and reading (and be used across grades for math), while Amira will be deployed for kindergarten through second grade to assist with phonics and fluency in English and Spanish. She emphasized a year-long professional-development model: "The professional development piece is a year long support that we can utilize," and described an implementation plan that includes adjusting elementary master schedules to embed support minutes, UTeach modeling of exemplar lessons, and funding for substitutes through Title II to enable half-day affinity-group release time.
