Cedar Hill ISD presents annual TAPR, highlights growth goals and special-education status

The Cedar Hill Independent School District presented its annual Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR) at a public hearing, outlining district- and campus-level performance, financial actuals and progress toward House Bill 3 goals.

A district presenter summarized the TAPR's contents, noting the report includes accountability ratings, STAR/STAAR-style performance by grade and student group, participation and attendance rates, graduation and college, career and military readiness (CCMR) indicators, and financial actuals for 2023'24. "Everything you're gonna see this evening, you have already seen," the presenter said while explaining the TAPR will be posted on campus and on the district's required postings.

The presenter also flagged the district's special education determination: "We are currently in the needs assistance for 2025 under special education," and described how the TAPR now shows progress toward House Bill 3 priorities—early literacy, early numeracy and college and career readiness. Trustees were given both aggregate state/region/district comparisons and campus-specific breakouts so they can identify schools that require targeted interventions.

Board members asked clarifying questions about the timing and data sources; the presenter reminded the board that many data sources lag and that the TAPR compiles prior-year measures while the district also uses mid-year NWEA results to guide instructional responses. The district emphasized that growth measures remain central to its strategy: "The number 1 thing we're looking for is student growth. Every scholar needs to grow," the presenter said.

The hearing closed with a short public comment thanking the district for making TAPR materials available at campuses and online.
