During its Jan. 21 meeting the Bedford Town Council recorded recommendations on multiple warrant articles beyond the operating budget and skateboard-park petition. Councilors approved recommendations for capital reserve deposits (Article 8), BCTV equipment and infrastructure funding (Articles 9 and 10), and a prohibition on Keno and broader games-of-chance within town limits (Articles 12 and 13). Most motions passed with 5–1 or 6–0 tallies as recorded in roll calls.
Specifically, the council approved recommending Article 8 (Capital Reserve Fund — Projects and Equipment) by a 5–1 vote; it approved Article 9 (Capital Reserve Fund — BCTV Equipment and Infrastructure) by 5–1 and Article 10 by 6–0. On charity/gaming matters, the council voted 6–0 to recommend an Article 12 prohibition on Keno games (with Chairwoman Radke stating she recommends not allowing Keno in Bedford) and voted 5–1 to recommend prohibiting games of chance under Article 13. The council discussed how recommendation language appears on the ballot and noted DRA may provide final formatting guidance. Most of these motions were recorded votes and will be printed next to the affected warrant articles on the ballot per the Town Charter and RSA guidance.
Councilors also allocated who will present items at Deliberative Session and asked staff to prepare voter information, including noting no tax impact on certain BCTV capital-reserve items.
