At the July 28 meeting a county corrections official reported the jail population and pending transfers.
“The jail this morning was at a 105 adults, and we had 29 out of county,” the agency official said, noting staff planned to ship some inmates to a halfway house and transfer two female inmates to Mitchellville the following day. Officials framed the transfers as routine population management to address out-of-county occupancy.
Board members did not vote on policy related to the report during the meeting; the update was provided as part of department head summaries.
