The Des Moines County Board on July 28 approved Resolution 2026-049 certifying the final plat for the Maryland Drive East subdivision.
Jared Laster, regional planner, said the parcel is a smaller division intended to split property between two family members following a deed-holder’s recent death. “Lot 1 contains an existing house and some egg buildings, plus a strip of farmland to the back, about 8 acres total,” Laster said. He noted the parcel sits next to the Highway 61 four-lane interchange and that the Iowa DOT controls entrances off Minneapolis Road, limiting new access; the other parcel retains frontage on 130th Avenue.
Laster told the board the City of Minneapolis waived formal review because the plat lies within its two-mile review area, and staff recommended recording the resolution. The board moved, seconded and recorded affirmative votes; the resolution will be recorded in county land records.
