Council adopts property-auction resolution, school-safety sign and accepts NOPEC grant

Alliance City Council voted unanimously to adopt Resolution No. 004-26 authorizing the sale of city-owned personal property via internet auction during 2026 and approved two ordinances on third reading concerning neighborhood safety and grant acceptance.
Council also adopted Ordinance No. 009-26 (introduced by Bugara) to direct the Director of Public Safety and Service to install a "Children at Play" sign at the intersection of Stratford Place and Northview Avenue, declared an emergency, with roll-call unanimous approval. Council noted prior requests for similar signage at Maple Beach and said Streets & Alleys will follow up. The council also adopted Ordinance No. 011-26 to accept Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council (NOPEC) 2026 Energized Community Grant funds.
Several labor-contract ordinances (Ordinance Nos. 021-26, 022-26 and 023-26) were not acted on during the meeting; council agreed to take no action that night on those items. Finance Chair Lohnes asked for no action on Ordinances 21, 22 and 23 and moved to waive Finance for Ordinance Nos. 20–26 for the evening.
The passage of Resolution No. 004-26 and both ordinances was recorded by unanimous roll-call votes. No dollar amounts for the NOPEC grant or details of the auctioned property were specified in the meeting record.
