Commission awards Hickory Grove and Skipper Bridge widening contract to low bidder

"Bids were opened on 06/25/2026, and we received 2 bids. The low bid was the Scruggs company, $5,039,798.50," Mister McLeod told commissioners. The other bid was from Reams and Sun Construction at $5,248,172.38.
Commissioners moved and seconded a motion to award the contract to Scruggs Company and to authorize the chairman to sign. The motion carried by voice vote.
Staff noted a 180‑calendar‑day contract time and confirmed that the work primarily consists of widening the roadway by about two feet on each side with associated shoulder rebuilding and restripping.
