Committee forwards $38,881 HVAC upgrade for Dumas Bay Center rooms to consent agenda

City staff asked the committee to authorize awarding the Dumas Bay Center Heron and Osprey room HVAC contract to Lumac Inc. for $38,881.50, funded from Parks Major Maintenance. Autumn Gressett explained an outdoor fan coil reached the end of its useful life and had been inoperable for three to four months; the project would replace the failed outdoor unit and relocate an indoor unit to air condition previously unconditioned portions of the Osprey room.
“Those rooms have never had full air conditioning on the backside, so we haven’t really been able to rent that in the summer,” Gressett said, noting the upgrade could increase rental revenue. Council members asked whether an overall building study had been done; Gressett said the city had completed integrated energy audits with Mac Miller and will bring detailed audit results in an upcoming special meeting. Committee members moved and the motion to forward option 1 to the Aug. 11 consent agenda carried on a voice vote.
