Crowley ISD staff outline potential federal geothermal tax-credit opportunity linked to Baylor Elementary

District staff briefed trustees on a possible federal geothermal investment tax-credit opportunity tied to a geothermal unit installed at the new Baylor Elementary School. Staff said the credit is a recently available federal incentive and that district staff are reviewing the process and will bring back a recommendation for board consideration at a future meeting.

An energy-management employee explained the district’s previous energy contract expired around 2018–2019 and that the district later hired the energy manager as an employee to handle ongoing work. The employee said there is no direct contractual connection that prompted the geothermal installation at Baylor and that the district looks for green-building opportunities during construction. "This is because of the geothermal unit that was installed at the new Baylor Elementary School," a staff presenter said when introducing the tax-credit topic.
