Crowley ISD board approves 2026–27 calendar with 171 instructional days

Trustees approved the proposed 2026–27 school calendar after staff walked through key dates and instructional-day totals. District staff noted teacher contracts would begin Monday, Aug. 3; the calendar includes six professional-development and staff workdays before students begin Tuesday, Aug. 11. The last student day is scheduled for Friday, May 21, and teacher contracts would end Tuesday, May 25.
A district staff member told the board, "There are on this calendar 171 instructional days, and that's 3 more instructional days than this school year's calendar has," saying the extra days were part of a goal to increase instructional time. Trustee June W. Davis moved to approve the calendar and Trustee Kalisha Stevenson seconded; the motion passed.
