Pahrump Arena advisory panel approves reservations, tables tractor purchase after minutes dispute

During consideration of the Jan. 22 minutes, committee member Maryan Hollis said she disagreed with how the minutes were written and provided a written list of suggested corrections. "She stated her disagreement with the minutes as written," the record notes. Committee members discussed whether a formal response was required; the board reached consensus not to change the minutes and approved them as written on a 5-0 vote after a motion from Darius Mann and a second from Scot Tibbits.
On reservations, the committee reported that Fall Fest brought in roughly $31,700.00 in total revenue and that the Fall Fest Rodeo accounted for $9,862.00. The Frugal Horseman reservation request for Feb. 28, 2026, was moved by Darius Mann, seconded by Tawny Wald, and approved 5-0. Committee members discussed previous event conditions, noting that staff (referred to in discussion as "Jimmy") had told a member he liked the condition H.S. Rodeo left the grounds in.
A discussion about purchasing a tractor produced no action to buy. Committee member Scot Tibbits said the committee needed a tractor; Kamal Mann raised the possibility of a town grant to help pay; Darius Mann said he found used 5125 M models priced near $130,000.00 and preferred staff presence for detailed discussion. At Tawny Wald’s request, the item was tabled until Jimmy or another liaison/staff member could attend and provide more information on funding and logistics.
The committee set a follow-up meeting for Feb. 26, 2026, to discuss fairground arena designs and added several repair and equipment items to the March 12 agenda, including loading-dock and gate repairs. The meeting adjourned following a 5-0 vote on the motion to adjourn.
