Putnam County business group plans summer survey to inform fall report to Legislature

Nat Prentice told the committee the Putnam County Business Council will run a summer Business Climate & Economic Development Survey and present findings to the Legislature in the fall, aiming to document barriers local businesses face and to strengthen partnerships with county economic programs.
Nat Prentice, government liaison for the Putnam County Business Council (PCBC), told the Economic Development & Energy Committee the PCBC will run a summer Business Climate & Economic Development Survey to capture what local businesses are “thinking and what is getting in the way of their progress.” He said the non-government volunteer group’s goal is to listen to businesses, report findings, and hopefully influence legislation and county support measures when the PCBC presents results this fall.
Prentice said the PCBC will partner with the Westchester Business Council to piggyback on state and federal outreach efforts. Legislator Crowley, a former PCBC board member, praised the council’s role connecting businesses with county and non-government resources and cited Lamothermic Precision Investment Casting Corp., a casting company with 65 employees, as an example of a business the PCBC helped retain. Legislator D’Angelo said he looks forward to rebuilding the Legislature’s working relationship with the PCBC.
