The Regional CCS Coordination Committee adopted a set of quarterly policy updates at its April 14, 2026, meeting that formalize several practices and adjust program language.
Julie Winter told members that policies and procedures for each county are now posted on county CCS websites and that the update package uses yellow highlights for additions and red strike-throughs for deletions. Winter said the Confirmation of Needs Form "can now be signed by other professionals (DO, PAC, or APNP), not just MD doctors," a change reflected in the revised form language. Terry Esala requested changing the phrase "Alcohol/Drug diagnosis" to "Substance Abuse Disorder" to align with State of Wisconsin usage.
The committee also formalized a requirement for CCS Service Facilitators to conduct the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS) within 48 hours of a participant's hospital discharge—described in the meeting as a practice now written into policy. Other changes include cross-references in the Program Staff Qualifications policy to an approved master- and bachelor-level CCS provider list and a Monitoring Program Compliance update to use the abbreviated American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) evaluation.
Committee members did not take additional action during the meeting on these updates beyond review; the changes will be available on county CCS websites per Winter's presentation.
