PAAC reviews possible fairgrounds arena designs, staff suggests name 'Covered Event Center'

Staff provided drawings and backup materials for possible arena designs at the fairgrounds and the PAAC discussed functional design choices for a proposed covered event center. The liaison noted staff suggests calling the arena the “Covered Event Center,” and members discussed water-well location, potential drawing tweaks to ease future build-out, bleacher capacity comparisons with facilities outside Pahrump, and parking and layout options to maximize seating and functionality.

Michelle Chappel commented that previous work by committee members could help navigate design options, saying the committee should participate in design decisions. Trish Phelps urged a facility layout that “needs to flow and have an ease of use,” and cited Queen Creek, Arizona, as an example of an effective layout. The committee accepted additional backup materials and agreed the facility should be multiuse and all-inclusive in design intent; no formal design was adopted and further planning will continue as funding sources develop.
