Summary
During liaison comments Feb. 26, Commissioner Debra Strickland said Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act funds (estimated at roughly $4.8 billion) are being released in increments and noted $5,780,000 from a Gridliance agreement was moved into Capital Improvements, suggesting these could support an Event Center/Arena at the fairgrounds.

Commissioner Debra Strickland briefed the committee on potential funding sources for a fairgrounds project and a prospective event center. She reported that Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act funds are “federally sitting at roughly $4,800,000,000.00 being released in increments of $100,000,000.00 to $300,000,000.00 for projects throughout the country,” and added that $5,780,000 from a Gridliance agreement that had been accidentally added to the General Fund has now been moved to Capital Improvements.
Strickland said she is hoping those resources can be considered for funding the Fairgrounds Project, including a potential future Event Center/Arena. The committee recorded this as a funding possibility; no formal funding commitment or BOCC appropriation occurred during the meeting.
