Council hears update on donor advisory fund grant to preserve poultry building

Staff told the council that a Donor Advisory Fund (DAF) award would cover $150,000 to acquire a poultry building the city seeks to preserve; an additional matching grant of $150,000 may be available.
"The letter that they sent me had conditions on it, about operating it as an event center and charging... market rate to have events. And so I, of course, push back on that because we're not... only talking about preserving the building at this point," staff said, adding that he later learned the restrictions had been removed.
Council asked for a formal proposal before committing to operations; the current discussion was an update on the status of grant conversations and next steps to bring a plan back to council for consideration.
