Staff described the planned installation as two generator sets (about 2.5 MW nominal each) that combined would be just shy of 5 MW but would produce less at Morgan’s higher altitude. Don said Geneva (the prospective customer) typically uses roughly 1.5 MW; the facility is intended to supply Geneva and allow surplus generation to offset Morgan’s purchases on the wider grid.
Council discussed title description corrections (UDOT must remove or correct existing easements) and potential alternative city uses if the generation project did not proceed (for example, a public works shop). The council approved Resolution 26‑34 by motion and second; the vote was recorded as unanimous.
Staff said the purchase price to close is roughly $525,000 (after fees and adjustments) for a parcel reported as 2.81 acres; the capital cost for construction and interconnection remains subject to further design and financing discussions.
