ODOT to hold Dec. 16 public hearing on Reading Road Target Speed pilot; state estimates $2.95M in improvements

Mayor Bo Bemmes told council that ODOT visited City Hall Nov. 12 to discuss a Target Speed pilot on Reading Road, a state route that the agency flagged as a priority for safety upgrades. ODOT will hold a public hearing Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers to present designs and solicit comments.
"ODOT currently estimates that $2.95 million dollars will be spent by the State of Ohio for these improvements with no financial contribution from us," Bemmes said. He added that ODOT prefers to post project materials on a public webpage and that the meeting could be adjusted if the webpage is not available in time.
Bemmes asked residents to review materials online and submit questions in advance; council members suggested submitting questions to the ODOT webpage or sending them to council members or the Clerk. The meeting is part of a pilot program spanning several state-route locations identified for safety improvements; residents were urged to attend or submit comments in writing.
