Alliance civil service commission says lieutenant promotional list exhausted; fire chief expects about four hires

He said the department is currently two employees short because of retirements, expects an additional retirement later this year and that “there may also be another firefighter leaving.” He told the commission he expects "about four hires off of the NTN list."
Secretary Candice Martin was directed to coordinate exam dates with Clancy so the commission can proceed with promotions; Chief Hunt said he would contact his NTN exam contact to get more information about promotional testing. Chief Hunt described how the commission maintains candidate records, saying the paper candidate book is color coded (Red = expired two years; Blue = hired; Brown = declined) and that an electronic file links to employment documents. He added, “The top ten will be contacted.”
The remarks signal a near-term hiring need for the Alliance Fire Department and set next procedural steps: scheduling promotional exam dates and contacting top-ranked candidates on the NTN list. The commission did not record a formal vote on hiring at the meeting; executive session later addressed certification of the NTN list.
