Larry presented Resolution 2026-069, a memorandum of agreement between the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and the Madison County Detention Center to establish roadside inmate work crews for a two-year term effective 07/01/2026 through 06/30/2028. The Transportation Cabinet will pay the county jail up to $11,250 for inmate meals, up to $56,250 for a correctional officer providing supervision and reimburse overtime up to $2,813; mileage will be reimbursed at the finance-cabinet rate unless the cabinet provides a vehicle for transport.
Magistrates voiced support for restoring the program after a hiatus during the COVID years, and the court approved the resolution by roll call. Judge Taylor and Larry both emphasized the county will authorize execution of the agreement by the judge executive or his designee and the master county jailer.
