Regents approve new majors, certificates and program changes across RUSO campuses, including UCO AI software engineering major

The RUSO Board unanimously approved a package of academic program proposals, reviews, deletions and new certificates across member institutions. Items approved included program deletions and changes at East Central University, a new Genomics and Bioinformatics certificate at Northeastern State University, and an array of program modifications and new degrees at the University of Central Oklahoma, including a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering — Artificial Intelligence.

Regent Amy Anne Ford presented the Educational Excellence Committee report and invited campus presidents to provide short overviews. "Motion to approve academic program proposals and reviews for ECU, Northeastern, Southeastern, Southwestern and UCO," the motion text records. The Board also approved New Program Letters of Intent for NSU (B.S. in Human Development and Family Science; M.Ed. in Elementary Education) and for UCO (B.S. in Biomedical Sciences; M.S. in Couple/Marriage and Family Therapy; Education Specialist in School and Professional Counseling). The Board recorded multiple program deletions and a schedule of five-year program reviews to be continued by campuses.
