Regents approve $8.55M Wantland Hall renovation and multiple UCO safety projects

The Regional University System of Oklahoma Board unanimously authorized the University of Central Oklahoma to select an architect and construction manager for the Wantland Hall renovation and to proceed with contract negotiation and award with a project budget not to exceed $8.55 million. The renovation will cover approximately 31,500 square feet and update mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems to accommodate the College of Education and Professional Studies.
Regent Amy Anne Ford moved the motion. The Board also approved related campus safety and infrastructure work: parking improvements for Lots 46 and 47 ($700,000), asbestos abatement at West Hall (Phase 1 and 2; $650,000), replacement of the Wellness Center flat roof ($275,000), renovation of space for the ID Card Office ($235,000), video-surveillance upgrades ($220,000) and replacement of three rooftop HVAC units at Mass Communications ($120,000). Several contracts and awards were reported as informational, including Matthews Trenching ($93,108) and Patco Electrical ($71,400). All motions passed unanimously.
The Board recorded funding sources where specified, including one-time deferred maintenance funds, mandatory facility fees, auxiliary funds and Section 13 offset funds. Regents asked that UCO follow procurement rules in selecting on-call contractors and report final guaranteed maximum prices to the system office.
