Southeastern Oklahoma State University received Board approval to increase the budget for its Aviation Sciences Institute renovation to include architectural and inspection fees. The project (No. 660-0335) had been previously approved at $1,831,580; Regent Ford noted the requested increase of $168,420 to fund architectural fees.
The renovation at Eaker Field will modernize office and classroom spaces, improve hangar space for maintenance and training, and create a makerspace within the hangar. The Board also approved inclusion of three alternates: updated LED lighting, high-velocity low-speed fans, and pusher motors for large hangar doors. Fund sources cited include an Economic Development Authority grant, master lease funds, capital funds, auxiliary funds and donated funds. The motion to increase the total project budget was moved by Amy Anne Ford, seconded by Thomas Kupiec and approved unanimously.
