Rowlett resident urges action after rescue highlights problems at Paddle Pointe Park ADA dock

At the council's citizens-input portion, resident Dave Hole described ongoing safety problems at the ADA dock at Paddle Pointe Park, including broken equipment and a foundation hazard visible at low water, and urged the city to address the issues.
Hole said an emergency response on Sept. 14 required an RFD truck and ambulance to enter the park and perform a water rescue. He told the council the ambulance's exit was impeded by an ice-cream truck that continued selling through the rescue, and said a warning sign reading "ADA access under repair" has been on site for about a year. "This sign has been there for a year," Hole said, and he asked the council to direct the city manager to prioritize repairs and enforcement of ordinances related to vending and park safety.
Mayor and council acknowledged the concern; the mayor confirmed he had contacted the city manager and asked code enforcement to extend timelines and address safety given the recent rescue. Council later requested a staff presentation about ambulance charges and billing in response to a separate citizen comment.
